She sighed and shook her head, her face adopting a reassuring smile. "Don't worry. We're the scariest pirates out there! We've got this."
She smiled, cocking her head slightly. "I love you too. Now, we gotta go punch some underground people, right?"
He kissed her cheek before Natalia spoke up. "Alright, everyone, listen up. Our plan of attack is subtlety. We are trying to get to this... portal before the colonies do. We need to move quickly and quietly."
Natalia's jaw hardened. "There will be no talking. If I hear a single mumble escape from your mouth, you will be left behind. We cannot risk being caught."
Avice began walking, her eyes sharp and cool as they gazed along the floor, watching the rocks and small plants with little interest.
He looked down at her quietly, his eyes bright with warmth and appreciation, but he said nothing. They walked along for a long time in silence. Finally, they heard a deep buzzing coming from deep within the earth. There was a turn up ahead, and an icy blue light pierced the darkness from around the corner.
Avice looked ahead, pulling her hands away as the light came into view, and her footsteps became silent.
They turned the corner, and ahead of them was a large blue triangle of energy, close to forty feet tall. It buzzed and crackled, and it was placed just a few feet off a large precipice. "The portal," the girl murmured to Natalia. "You must hurry."
