He squeezed it lightly as Natalia pursed her lips. "Alright," she said eventually. "Everyone, lineup to jump in." The crew, all staring at the portal with trepidation, began to shuffle into the line. Jack let go of her hand. "Get in line," he murmured. "I've got to wait until the end."
The first person, a tiny woman with blonde hair and tattoos trailing up her arms took a deep breath and jumped into the portal. She went through, and was enveloped by the portal before disappearing. Natalia watched, her brow furrowed before gesturing people in. "Hurry. Hurry." Jack sheparded the rest of the crew into the line, much like a mother would herd her children.
When Avice leapt through, her whole world went white. *** "Go, Jack," Natalia said, glancing around nervously. "Hurry." Jack frowned before taking a running leap and disappearing into the portal. (Time skip?)
(Zoom!) When Avice would wake up, the first thing she would see was the sky, cloudless and perfect. Waves lapped around her legs and the sand pressed into her back.
Various crew members were also sitting up around him. A worn, abandoned dock stood in the distance with their ship bobbing, waiting for them.
She stood up, brushing the sand off. Looking back up at the sky for a moment, she turned back and searched the faces of the crew.
Her peers surrounded her, all looking slightly dazed. "Avice?" came a cautious voice from behind her.
"I'm fine," he said nodding slightly. A frown crossed his face and he looked around. "Have you seen Natalia?"
