Pirates! (One-on-One)

Ellia ran up to Jack, her eyes wide.

"Jack, I think..." She swallowed. "I think Natalia was caught back there."

 

The blood rushed from Jack's face, and his jaw hardened.

"What?"

Ellia sounded slightly tearful.

"As... As I was jumping through, I looked back and that colony girl, the lead one, she had her arm around the captain's neck."

Jack fell silent, his eyes searching Ellia's face frantically.

 

Ellia's lower lip trembled and she nodded.

"Yeah."

 

Jack stared at Ellia, his brow furrowed.

"You're lying," he said, his voice deadly quiet.

 

He whipped his head over to look at her, and his eyes were sharp.

"She's lying."

 

He shook his head.

"She's lying. She has to be."

 

There was a visible fight in his eyes. His emotions swarmed as he watched her, and she would be able to see his logical side forcing him to acknowledge the truth of her words.

"It... it can't be."

 

He visibly panicked.

"Okay. Okay. We just need to wait. She'll show up."

 

"Wait," he replied. "She'll get out. I know she will."

 

"Jack!"

Jade ran up to them, her eyes worried.

"It's the Corps," she said, pointing out to the sea.
