"I'm a bird? Sharks sometimes eat birds, you know."
"Right. I'd never eat you. That's why I'm not a shark."
"And I can't fly, so what makes me a bird?"
"You're good and gentle and eager. To me, that's a bird."
She laughed. "Huh. Never heard that before."
"Well, what do you think you'd be?"
She pursed her lips, her eyes thoughtful. "Definitely a snake. They're scary."
"No, baby," he insisted, kissing the tip of her nose. "You're not a snake."
She chuckled. "What do you think you are?"
"Dog," he replied immediately. "That, or a very affectionate pillbug."
She laughed. "Why a pillbug?"
"They roll up when frightened," he replied immediately.
She stifled a chuckle. "Is that what you do?"
"Oh, definitely," he said. "Luckily, I'm never scared."
She grinned. "No? Only worried."
"Psh. I never worry either."
"That's a big lie."
"I don't lie, baby girl. I merely stretch the truth."
"I think it's a lie."
"Uh uh. I would never."
