They hurried over and a small woman with curly red hair knelt down next to Jack. "What happened here?" she asked, checking his pulse.
Her brows furrowed and her words came out in a flurry. "What dies it look like? He was stabbed! We need- I- Is he okay?!"
The woman ignored Avice's tone, frowning. "This.. this isn't good," she muttered to her fellow medic, grabbing a syringe. "His heart's stopped."
She took the bandages and quickly wrapped them around Jack's torso, trying to keep the wound pressurized. She felt his pulse again and frowned before straightening her arms over his chest, pumping on his sternum to try to get his heart beating again.
It took several tries, with Jack remaining unresponsive. The medic frowned, tugging a lock of hair with frustration. "Come on!" She hit his chest with his fist and Jack's eyes flew opened and he gasped, his back arching as he regained consciousness.
Avice gave a sigh of relief, exhaling air she had subconsciously been holding. Giving a quick thanks to the sky, she hastily wiped away the tears.
His gaze met hers and he watched her weakly, unable to speak in the moment. "Captain?" the medic asked with a frown. "Captain, can you hear me?" He managed a slight nod, never looking away from Avice. "Try and talk when you can, okay? Stay awake."
His brow furrowed and it took him a moment to try to speak again, clearing his throat. "Yeah, Av?" he replied, his voice raspy and hoarse.
He tried to speak, but it took him a few moments. When he finally did, he spoke in short phrases, long and drawn out. "Love you too, Av.... Don't worry.... Not dead, yet."
