His lips tasted of almond and whiskey and he paused in surprise before kissing her back, his hands lightly brushing her neck. He pulled away quickly though, and stared at her with wide eyes. "You just kissed me!"
She looked up at him, her eyes bright as she leaned forward and kissed him again, her hand lightly grazing his jaw.
His hand brushed her hair back, and his other hand rested lightly on her back, as if he was unsure if he had the right.
She had longed for this, but she knew it wouldn't last. Bittersweet. After a moment, she pulled away.
"No, God. Of course not. You didn't did anything wrong, I promise," she said insistently, looking up at him.
"But you told me you loved me when you were drunk," he said. "And that was true. And I told you I loved you when I was sober. And that was true."
