Knox gave her a warm grin, cocking his head. "Why would I do that when I already have both of you right here?"
He shrugged, glancing down at Jack as he went limp. "Call me sentimental, but I have some... special things in mind for him."
He looked down at Jack with one eyebrow raised, using the side of his foot to lift his chin. His face was pale and his eyes were closed, his expression peaceful in sleep. "Hm. We'll worry about that when we come to it. Come along, now."
His hand was warm and strong, and he took hers with a smile as the henchman lifted up Jack and threw him over his shoulder. “Now, how do you know Tuck, here?”
"Really?" he asked, amused as they headed down the street. "You'd risk your life for a work partner? And where are you working, by the way?"
His smile gave a softness to his face. "Avice, my dear - may I call you Avice? - Avice, even though I haven't known you for very long, I feel as if you're lying to me. I believe we must be very honest with each other. Have I lied to you for as long as you've known me?"
"No," she said sharply. "I feel that you find pride in your misdeeds. There is no point in lying, then."
He raised the pointer of his free hand. "Ah, but regardless, I have never lied. There's really no point in it. I will find out anything I need soon enough." He glanced back at Jack before returning his gaze to her. "But you could make it a lot easier on a lot of people."
She looked to him as well, her eyes soft. "Were together," she said quietly. "The only reason he was by himself was because there was an argument. It was stupid. This is stupid."
