As the door closed behind her, she would hear noises coming from beyond her window, voices speaking authoritatively. Rain poured beyond the window and lightning flashed in the distance.
Avice looked out the courtyard, muddy from the rain. Hooded figures waited ominously as the henchman from earlier, carrying a limp body over his shoulder. He dropped Jack on the ground harshly and Jack's head smacked against the concrete. He didn't move or react. The familiar rise and fall of his chest was absent. The figures began to raise their left hands, pointing at Jack's body and a blue energy from their fingers began to flow into him.
She whimpered, taking a step back, her hands covering her mouth as tears filled her eyes. She returned to the window, still sadly hopeful.
His body jerked unnaturally, reacting to the magic pointed at him. There came a polite knock on the door.
She paused, turning back as she quickly wiped the tears from her eyes and sat on the bed. "Ah.. Come in."
She stood quickly; violently. "I hope you die!" she hissed. "God knows you deserve to burn in Hell with the other monsters!'
"So angry, Avice," he chided calmly, tilting his head and patting the space next to him. "Please, sit."
She took a breath, realizing he was serious. Finally, she sat down, deciding to just follow his orders.
He brushed her hair behind her ear lightly. "Now, you need to understand," he said sternly. "Tuck Sparks took away my most prized possession."
"And I do regret the pain it has caused you," he said, tilting his head. "But Tuck Sparks had to die." He kissed her cheek lightly. "I hope that one day you can learn to understand that."
She sighed, turning her head. "I will never forgive you. You took the love of my life. Now I'm stuck here with you, and it was a sacrifice thats pointless now."
