Jack's body lay alone in the rainy courtyard, his head lolled off to the side. His tuxedo was stained with blood and mud and his curls were dark from the rain.
She took a shaky breath, before looking back, before climbing out the window, deciding she could make it down.
She took a shuddery breath, approaching him on her knees. She wrapped her arms around him, sobbing into his shoulder.
His body was stiff and cold, with the familiar pulse of his heart absent. His arms lay still at his side, his head turned off to the side.
"I'm sorry," she said into his shoulder, her voice whimpering. "This is all my fault. This is my fault. I wish I never argued with you. I want you back." She took a breath. "Come back. C-Come back."
The glow grew brighter and brighter, the light swirling from inside his chest. Jack twitched before his eyes flew open and he gasped, his spine cracking as he arched his back.
