He frowned, glancing at her out of the corner of his eye “I wasn’t planning on it. You’re the one who wanted to leave.”
He shook his head, frowning deeply. "I am going to die one day with or without you. Let me be happy while I breathe."
She looked up at him, her eyes wide. "I want to make you happy," she said, her voice small. "I try.. I fail sometimes, but I try."
He looked down at her before sitting up and grabbing the blanket, pulling it over the two of them. He settled back down and kissed her forehead, wrapping his arms around her. "Are you cold?"
He held her hands in his, his thumbs swirling around her knuckles. "Well, for someone who died today, I'm fairly warm. Hug me, maybe?"
