He wrapped his arms around her gladly, rubbing her back. "Sleep," he murmured quietly. "I'll be here."
He hummed under his breath, planting small kisses in her hair. "The buttons on your collar, the color of your hair, I think I see you everywhere..."
He was quiet, looking down at her before gently pulling away, standing up. He rubbed the back of his neck before leaving the room, heading for the main deck. The stars shined brightly down at him and his breath came out in clouds of steam. He frowned, feeling a discomfort in arms, a restlessness he was unfamiliar with. He went to the side of the ship, looking down at the smooth water. He paused before reaching out, almost as if to touch it and the water shifted before forming a small orb that floated up into his hand. He looked at it with wide eyes, studying the surface. He was quiet, thinking carefully before he tossed the sphere of water back into the ocean where it rejoined the glassy surface. Taking a deep breath, he turned on his heel and returned to his room, his hands strangely calm at his side.
Her eyes fluttered open, and she looked to him nervously. After a moment, she relaxed, kissing the top of his head.
