They continued dancing until Jack spotted a crew member beckoning them over. He turned to Avice. "I think it's time to go."
"Well, rest assured, Rohesia. You will never get me to dance again when I'm sober," he said, grinning at her. "So this is the last time."
She laughed, her head tilting. "Exactly! That is why I should savor the moments, because soon I'll have to deal with a grumpy Jack."
"Ach," he said, pinching the bridge of his nose. "The girl I love likes me better when I'm drunk. Truly a tragedy."
"I would never put you through that kind of torture. I promise." She smiled. "It's almost like you don't trust me."
He laughed as they approached the docks. "Well," he said, "I wouldn't say that making me dance is hurting me. It's just torture."
He frowned at her and then sighed. "I'm too inebriated to come up with a good comeback," he replied, pinching the bridge of his nose.
