He laughed, kissing her cheek quickly. "My father is a lawyer," he said, his eyes twinkling. "Do you dislike my father?"
He paused, and his brow furrowed. "He really loved my mother," he said eventually. "But when she died, he changed." He cleared his throat and turned to her, and there was conflict in his eyes. "I would say no. My father is not nice."
He smiled slightly, evidently trying to remain casual. "You make your decisions very quickly," he observed. "What if I told you that he saved 50 orphans from a fire?"
"Well, you said he was not nice so I am going to assume that is a lie. Besides, lawyers don't save anyone."
"You win this one, Jack." She shook her head. "Just because all this talk about lawyers is not exciting."
She shrugged, pursing her lips. "I'm not sure," she said, crossing her arms. "When are you going to fight that shark?"
"I don't want you to fight a shark if you may die. It needs to be a sure fight where you win," she saaid thoughtfully, nodding in agreement at her idea.
"Here's the plan. You hold the shark with a leash, and I beat him up with insults and dirty looks. Sound good?"
