“I wasn’t. I was just doing all that for your benefit.”
She laughed and kissed the top of his head. "I love you."
He chuckled slightly, wrapping his arms around her waist. “I love you too.”
"Yeah," she said softly, "but I really, really love you."
He paused, his fingers brushing through her hair. "Is this because I agreed to dance with you?"
"No," she said with a small laugh. "It's because you're you."
"That's my line."
She smiled. "I know it is."
"You know that stealing is illegal, right?"
"I didn't hear you copyright it."
("Well, excuse you. Copyright hasn't even been invented yet!) "I thought I'd be able to trust you."
She smiled. "Sorry."
He sighed, shaking his head as he laid down. "I'm heartbroken."
She wrapped his arms around him. "Don't be."
"Too late," he said with an emphatic sigh. "This is the body of a broken man."
Her hand reached to brush his jaw, and she kissed his cheek. "But I love you!"
He sniffled. "That's why this hurts so much."
"Aw," she murmured softly. "Don't pretend to cry."
"You think this is a game, Avice?! My emotions are just a playground for you?"
She blinked, pulling away slightly. "Ah.. Quit messing."
