She nodded, her voice half joking and quiet when she spoke. "How would we take care of each other if we were far away?"
He hesitated before giving her a melancholy smile and reaching a hand out to her. "It wouldn't be easy."
His fingers intertwined with hers and he looked at Natalia. "We're ready." Natalia nodded slowly before gesturing to the rowboat.
He started to follow her before kissing Natalia's cheek. "Be good, Nat." She gave him a rare smile, her eyes loving. "Never. Go, now." He got into the rowboat next to Avice, his hands folded in his lap.
She glanced at him, a bit nervous. "I didn't mean what I said earlier. I wasn't thinking and I'm sorry."
She shook her head, dipping her fingers in the water. "Today has been so terrible, and it's my fault. Now.. Now we're leaving."
