He frowned before leading her to a local inn, the sign old and weathered. The inside was warm, and the inn manager looked up from behind her place cheerfully. "How can I help you, dearies?"
"We'd like a room, please," Jack said politely, kissing Avice's head. The woman nodded cheerfully. "Alright. Well, room 106 is open. It's going to be 70 daelyns a night though. Can you handle that?" Jack dropped a gold coin on the counter from a pouch on his waist and the woman stared. "Ah... I see. Let me... uh... Right. Keys." She gave them a key ring, giving them warm smiles. "Have a good sleep!"
The room inside had a large double bed waiting for them, the ground a warm cherry pine and a few desks set up off to the side. There was a bathroom door in the corner and lamps let out cheerful light into the room.
He blinked in surprise before stepping forward to take her in his arms, pulling her closer. "You should change," he said softly.
