His hands, generally so strong and sure, seemed hesitant with her. His touch was gentle against her face, and when he pulled away, resting his forehead on hers, he tucked her hair behind her ear with a shy smile.
"I'm really not," he said softly. "I don't think you understand how... good you are. I don't know, I'm not very good at explaining it, especially since I'm drunk, but... You light up every room you enter, you know? I always feel like this great weight has been lifted when you're near, and so I find that when I'm not with you, I feel like there is something wrong."
Her eyes widened slightly, and her heart felt fluttery. "God, Jack," she said, her head dropping. "You really are something. I love you so much that you don't even know."
He placed his fingers under her chin and lifted her head to look at him. "I love you, too!" he said cheerfully, kissing the tip of her nose, seemingly unaware that he had said anything particularly romantic. "Do you want to go in?"
She sat on the edge, a small grin on her face. "Totally, but tonight you have a free pass, so if you sleep you won't be considered weak."
She shook her head, returning his gaze with a small smile. "Nuh uh. Sleep is always important. You should know that."
