She took his hands gently, resting her head on his shoulder. "You're a person," she said. "People can't necessarily be perfect.. I don't care if you're damaged. Nothing could change the fact that I love you."
He watched her carefully, hanging onto every word. “But... my father. I mean, his behavior doesn’t just disappear. I’m sure I have it too.”
"Don't say that," she said softly. "I know better than to believe you'll turn out like that. You're a good man, Jack. I know you're not like that."
