"Do you think that they know that their arrival is awaited with such apprehension?" he asked, kissing the top of her head.
"Probably not," she said warmly, brightening as a light flickered nearby. "There's something I have to tell you."
His eyes darted between hers, as if trying to judge if she was telling the truth. His hands came up to hold her face gently. "Really?" he whispered, his voice weak
He stared at her for a moment before pulling her into an embrace, one hand on the back of her head and the other between her shoulder blades. "Oh my god," he whispered, kissing her temple. His voice wavered slightly. "Oh my god. You and I? We're going to have a baby?"
He took a deep breath before pulling away, his brows already furrowed with worry. "But... you don't want a baby. You don't want kids."
His eyes were slightly teary and he shook his head in disbelief, taking her hands. "How... how long have you known?"
"A week? How have you kept it from me for a week?" he asked, his eyes searching her face. "You're not a very good liar!"
