Jack blinked, clearly thrown off guard. "Elyse," he said with an air of shock. "What are you doing here?" "I... I was in town. More importantly, what are you doing here? They told us you were dead." He stepped back, his free hand reaching for Avice. "I live here with my partner. Elyse, this is Avice. Avice, Elyse."
She shook it, her eyes still wide. "God, I... I can't believe it's you. It's been forever. I mean... Jesus, Tuck. Everyone said you were dead." He tensed slightly at the sound of his old name.
"Yes, well..." he said, looking down at Avice and then Aubrey. "Rumors spread, I suppose." "Is this little one yours?" Elyse cooed, stepping forward to look at the baby. "Yeah," Jack said, brightening. "This is Aubrey." Elyse raised an eyebrow. "Like your sister?" "The one and the same." The baby studied Elyse before the lower lip trembled and she began to sniffle.
The baby calmed instantly in her arms, keeping a watchful eye over Elyse. Jack cleared his throat. "Ahem. How long will you be in town, Elyse?" "Oh," she began, running a hand through her hair. "I'm not sure. I'm..." She gave a sheepish laugh. "I'm just trying to figure out where I'm going to stay tonight."
"No, not at all," Jack agreed. She gave them a warm smile, almost shyly. "Al...Alright. Thank you. Can I write down the address?"
He sighed, squeezing her hand. "A girl I dated back in med school. I left our relationship because I went to go help Natalia escape."
Avice blinked, but kissed his cheek. "No worries. I assume she won't be staying too long.. Though I should have asked you first."
