It would take her a moment to realize that Jack had fallen back into a light sleep, his head flopped to one side.
Avice looked over at him, a caring sigh escaping her as she said out of bed, going to make Aubrey a bottle.
There was silence for a couple minutes before a noise came from the bedroom that sounded suspiciously like Jack falling out of bed. He emerged a few moments later, heading into Aubrey's room frantically, not noticing them in the kitchen.
He emerged from her room immediately, his eyes frantic. They landed on the two of them and he sighed in relief. "Oh thank God," he said, leaning against the wall, pinching the bridge of his nose.
She didn't reply for a moment, trying to hide the fact that his words saddened her. "Did.. Did you fall out of bed?"
She shook her head, looking down at Aubrey. "No. I should have woken you up or something. I know that you're worried I'll leave with her. So I should have told you."
The baby gurgled, patting her collarbones. He sighed, running his hand through his hair. “It’s fine. Don’t worry.”
