"I know.. I know. There's nothing we can do to fix that. I wish there was. I wish I could go back in time and undo all this mess, but I can't. I just can't.."
His hand came up to brush through her hair and he shuddered slightly, shaking his head. "I missed you like crazy," he said after a moment. "Not an hour went by where I didn't think of you."
He said nothing more, but only pulled her closer, his hand on the back of her head and the other arm wrapped around his waist, as if to crush whatever minuscule distance was between them.
He was quiet for a moment, as if afraid, his hand in her hair, and for a moment, it seemed like he might not have heard her before he spoke up again. "I love you too."
"That's okay.. It's okay to be afraid. Don't worry." She brushed through his hair. "It's okay to be scared."
