He hesitated before brushing her hair off her forehead slowly, his hand gentle. “It is. She’s not exactly patient.”
"I am not scared of Natalia. That's ridiculous!" She went to the other room tp change Aubrey. "It's first impressions!"
"Uh huh. You're terrified," he said, opening the door. Natalia glanced up, her eyes sharp and instantly observant. She scanned Jack as if to see what had changed, her delicate brow furrowed. "You look tired," she observed. He had to laugh as he pulled her into a hug. "I am. It's good to see you, Nat." She hesitated before hugging him back, feeling relieved despite the closeness of the action.
Avice was still in the other room, but returned with Aubrey in different clothes. She cocked her head, saying nothing yet.
Natalia's eyes widened before she pulled away. "Jack..." she said in a hushed voice. "There's a baby."
"A baby. You have a baby." Her eyes widened and she stepped closer, her brow furrowed. "What's her name?" "Aubrey," Jack replied quietly and her gaze shifted from the baby to her brother. "Her name is Aubrey." Natalia looked back at the baby for a moment and Aubrey stared back, both of them staring.
