"Not good. Bad. I thought you'd like someone who's happy all time. I felt like I would just hurt you or drive you away."
She kissed him back, her hands reaching up and lightly touching his shoulders. "I suppose that's what matters," she said softly. "Your opinion."
"Damn straight," he replied with a cocky grin, looking down at her. There was a certain shyness to his expression, however, that gave a softness to his words.
She took his head in her hands, and grinned brightly, as if excited that she could. After a moment, she kissed him, her lips soft on his.
He kissed her back, surprised. His fingers ran through her hair, but his touch was unsure and gentle.
He stared at her, obviously surprised. "Avice..." He seemed at a loss for words. "I was.. well, I was feeling pretty desolate for a while there." He paused and then continued. "But then, you came along, and everything changed."
"Of course," he said quietly, resting his forehead against hers. "Avice, I haven't been the same since I met you."
He brushed her cheek, frowning. "God, Av. I feel the same." He kissed her lightly. "Is everything alright?"
