"You're such a good girl, Aubrey," she would hear him say quietly. "I don't know what I would have done without you, you know. You saved your dad. Isn't that insane? You saved your dad at barely a month old."
She squealed, placing her hands on his cheekbones and he laughed lowly, resting his forehead on hers as she patted his face before tugging on his hair.
She wrapped her arms around him from behind, her voice quiet. "I was being ridiculous earlier.. I'm sorry."
He tensed in surprise before looking up at her, kissing her cheek lightly. "I trust you. You know I trust you, right?"
