"I'm not," he said slowly. "But I am afraid of losing you."
She went quiet before pulling away from him. "..I never should have said anything."
“I can’t have you die from this,” he said slowly. “I can’t have that.”
"Okay," she said gently. "That's alright. We.. We don't have to have another."
He pursed his lips, looking down at the ground.
She paused, her hand brushing his jaw before she gave him a kiss.
He exhaled. “You understand, right?”
She nodded, her brows furrowed. "I understand."
He sighed, his free hand on her jaw. “I can’t lose you again.”
"But.. We had Aubrey.."
“My mother died when she had her second child, Avice. I can’t have that happen to you too.”
She sighed, looking down. "Alright."
He kissed her forehead before taking her hand. “Come on, let’s go.”
She nodded, now quieter than before.
He led her outside, squinting st the sun before heading for the stables.
She followed, her grip on his hand tight.
“What about Jerry?”
"What about it?"
“For the horse?”
"I thought Horse was okay, but I don't know."
