She would be able to hear the smile in his voice. "I'm the best because I love you? That doesn't make me great, Av. That just makes me a human being."
"Loving you makes me better, though," he said thoughtfully. He paused for a moment before laughing self-consciously and shaking his head. "God. Loving you is such a privilege, Avice, you don't even know."
She looked up at him, a slight blush on her cheeks. "Really?" she asked quietly, before covering her face with her hands, embarrassed. "Ach. God. You're so amazing it's not fair."
He pulled her hands away from her face and kissed her. "Really," he confirmed. "You make the world around you better, you know? You just..." He trailed off before grinning down at her. "You're like the sun, or something."
He grinned, a small flush on his cheeks. "Christ, we're corny," he said, leaning down to kiss her. "I love it."
He paused before looking down at her. "We've only been together for about a day," he said quietly. "And I'm already utterly in love with you. That's a little crazy, isn't it?"
"I'm completely in love with you too," she admitted. "It rather be measured in time we've known each other, rather than how long we've been together."
"That's true," he said. "We've known each other for a couple of years now, and I've had a crush on you for all of that time."
She kissed his cheek, her actions excited and lively. "I can't believe I never noticed," she said. "I liked you a lot, too."
"I got pretty good at hiding it," he replied, brushing back her hair smoothly. "And besides, you've only ever spoken to me while I liked you. I don't think you have any other behavior of mine to compare it to."
He laughed against her lips. "You're biased, Rohesia, and I can prove it. I have it on the record that you are actually the best thing. Trust me on this."
"Jack," she said, taking his head in her hands lightly, "you're definitely the best thing. I know this for a fact."
"No, mine is more of a fact," she said, her vibe softening as she wrapped her arms around his waist. "You are the best thing."
"Doubtful," he murmured as he kissed the top of her head. He was quiet for a moment, his arms wrapped around her shoulders, before he finally sighed. "I should probably go feed the pigeons," he said. "Want to come?"
