He raised an eyebrow before nodding. "I'm your partner, Avice," he said, ignoring his pounding heart. "Of course I like you!"
"I'm very sorry," he said grinning at her. "I swear I'm not doubting your ruthlessness. Gotta love a girl who you know could take off your head with one swipe."
"Hah," she laughed wryly, then stood up. "Gotta Love a guy who makes fun your mad homicide skills, right?"
"What a pair we make," he said easily, finishing his last cannon. "We could loot the world with that kind of attitude!"
She dropped the rag, shaking her head with a frown. "Sorry, Jack, but this partnership only pertains to finding the killer. Nothing else." Stupid. Stupid. You should never have said anything in the first place. She mentally scolded herself, crossing her arms.
His face fell momentarily, but he had a good poker face, and she would only be able to see it for a flash of a second. But it was definitely there. "Oh," he said. "Okay." He cleared his throat, and turned to her with a grin. "I guess I'll loot the world all on my own then."
She cocked her head, watching him for a moment before chuckling. "Well, when you say it like that it makes me feel bad... I'll loot anything else with you, just not the world. That's too much work."
"Hmm," she murmured, tapping her chin. "Yep, I think that could work. Besides, looting is Edolier is probably a terrible choice."
"Deal! I'm sure this expert looting thing will definitely work out well, cause we make a pretty good team, in my opinion."
"I agree," he said, nodding. "We'll strike fear into the hearts of the world, you and I." He paused for a moment, and then smirked. "Well, everyone except Edolier."
"Ha! We could take on Edolier if we really wanted. They're just... a little more difficult," she decided, poking her head out of a window.
"Good," she said, walking over to him. "You wanna go back up? There's nothing else to do down here besides hang out."
"Sure," he said cheerfully. "I think people are celebrating up there. Do you want to go check it out?"
