"But killer pigeons, Av," he said, glancing down at her. "That's pretty important too."
"Mail and stuff," she said firmly. " Then killer pigeons."
He sighed but kissed her cheek. "Fine. With any luck, we can raise these chicks to do both."
"That will be perfect. I think we can do it," she said with a nod.
"We'll be a pigeon family," he said cheerfully.
"Are our kids going to be pidgeons?"
He paused, evidently a little surprised, but played along. "I thought you didn't want kids?"
"But pigeons," she said, "are different."
"So, we'll hatch eggs then," he said easily. "I can do that. We'd have to build a nest."
"I've never built a nest, unfortunately. Sorry."
"I'm sure we could figure it out," he said, looking down at her. "We're both reasonably smart."
She reached up to kiss him quickly. "Yes. That will work."
"How many pigeons would we want?" he asked, grinning down at her.
"Hmm," she murmured thoughtfully. "What's a good number?"
"At least three," he said, climbing up a set of stairs.
She followed, her eyes thoughtful. "That's a lot. We can manage, though."
"Well, we don't want one," he said. "Then it'd be spoiled."
"I was an only child."
"Oh dear," he said, shaking his head. "Then we have a problem."
"Why?" she asked, tilting her head.
