After a moment he would feel a hand running through her hair.
He looked up suddenly, his eyes wide.
She was awake, her eyes dull.
“Hey,” he said, sitting up. “You okay?”
She whimpered slightly. "I'm hurting."
He shuddered in relief, kissing the back of her hand. “It’s so good to see you.”
She shut her eyes tiredly. "What happened?"
He exhaled, shaking his head tiredly. “I’ll tell you later.”
She nodded slowly, her shaky hand reaching and holding his jaw. "Are you okay?"
He laughed lightly, swiping hastily at his eyes. “You shouldn’t be the one asking me that.”
He cocked her head, her brows furrowing. "Are you crying? What happened?"
“I’m fine,” he said quickly, kissing the back of her hand. “Don’t worry.”
She watched him carefully before patting the spot beside her on the bed.
He shifted before standing up, holding Aubrey carefully and sitting on the side of the bed.
She took his hand, her brows furrowed. "It hurts."
“I know, baby. I know.”
She went quiet, soon drifting off again.
He sighed before lying down next to her, rubbing her back.
