Avice wasn't paying much attention to what she said. Her eyes were staring intently into the black water, waiting silently for the slightest hint of movement. If she saw a siren, she would most likely jump into the ocean itself and stab it.
The singing had been quiet for a while, but it soon started back up again. "Infantem inepta," it sang, the voice bubbling in the still air. "The sirens feed off of your desires," Natalia said, "especially male desires of lust, but everyone can be afflicted. If anyone besides our crew speaks to you, kill them." Ellia had been working quietly, tying long ropes around the beam like Jade's. "Here, everyone!" Ellia called. "Tie these around your waists." A small wave rippled under Avice's line of view, and it almost seemed that a hand was beckoning just below the surface.
She tied a rope around her waist as She went to grab the earplugs and saw Natalia sitting on the floor, extremely pale. "I'm telling you, your gonna get yourself killed if you keep doing things like this." After getting the earplugs she gave Natalia a bottle of alcohol,a few cloth patches and a giant bandage roll. "If your gonna keep walking around,at least re-apply the bandage from time to time." She went back over to the railing and saw that the Siren's body was gone. She whirled back around and looked at everyone but talked to nobody in particular."Uh... After you kill a siren does its body just disappear?"
"It was probably taken back to their.. dwelling," Natalia said vaguely. "There's a lot of them, though."
Avice glared angrily at the water. She pulled out her dagger and waited for the right moment to strike.
The hand made a whipping movement, almost mocking Avice. It waved under the surface, and disappeared. Jack walked over to Avice, noticing her tenseness. "Hey, are you alright?" he asked cautiously. "Do you see anything?" By Sierra, the singing seemed to grow louder to her ears, but this song came from a lower voice, a deep, smooth, dreadfully familiar one.
Avice responded dryly. "I do see something. I see it. I see it and I'm going to murder it." She clutched the knife tight, and ignoring everything else dove over into the water. Her adrenaline was rushing as she was submerged, head whipping around to look for the sirens. (It would have been out of character not to make her do that.)
It took her a moment to realize who the voice belonged to but when she did she almost became as pale as Natalia. She turned around and looked into the water, her eyes were wide and her hands were trembling. She was gripping onto the rail with a grip of pure steel. Unconsciously she placed a hand on her pistol, which was holstered and already loaded. "Your not real your not real your not real." She continued chanting those three words to herself as if it was the only thing that kept her sane. Out of the corner of her eye she saw Avice dive, but did nothing. She just stared into the water, trying to find where the voice was coming from.
(lol. I love Avice.) Almost instantly, a hand encircled Avice's ankle, and tugged, bringing her below the surface. Giggles echoed in Avice's ears, as the moonlight from the surface grew fainter and fainter as the siren pulled her deeper into the water. * * * Jack muttered under his breath, cursing Avice just as much as the sirens. "God damn it... now she's going to drown...can't even swim...didn't even attach a rope" He made sure his rope was securely tied, and sighed with dread. "Be right back." He slipped into the water, cursing, and taking a deep breath, he went under, following Avice and the siren. * * * Captain Feist stared up at Sierra with kind eyes that she knew so well. "Sierra, you know you don't want to be up there," he said, cocking his head and smiling gently up at her. "Come, join me. Bring some of the others."
Without hesitance, Avice looked down and began cutting at the wrist of her attacker. The only thing racing through her head was 'I'm going to kill them. I'm going to kill them.'
A hiss echoed through the water as the siren let go of Avice's ankle, but now other hands were grabbing at her, pulling her hair, and limbs. One voice giggled, and spoke in broken English. "Hee! Follows daddy, doesn't she?"
That made Avice furious. She knew she would soon run out of air, but she continued to stab in every direction, basically losing her mind.
A different hand, more substantial, and less slimy, grabbed onto Avice's dagger hand, closing her hand tighter around the weapon's hilt. The hand tugged her up, towards the surface. At the moment, Jack was simply trying his best avoiding Avice's dagger jabs. He prayed she would not stab him in the side because, as fun as it would be to match with his sister, he figured that the pain was not worth it.
(Yeah I do to.)She knew well he was dead. But to hear and see him again,it was simply too much for her. "Guys I think I see someone in the water! I'm going to help them!" Before anyone could respond she got on top of the railing and noticed Avice struggling underneath the ocean surface. She looked between her father and Avice. "To hell with this." She jumped and dove into the water, but rather than swimming to her father she swam towards Avice, and surprisingly enough she was already getting pulled out, might as well help. She pulled out her pistol and fired at one of the sirens, welp, now her gun is useless.
Sierra's father groaned. "Sierra, you're leaving me to die? You're killing me, Sierra. You're killing me!" The words spilled out of his mouth with agony, and tears spilled from his eyes. He opened his arms in a wide invitation. "My daughter, please. Return to me."
Avice's movements slowed as she tired. She felt like she was about to black out from lack of air, and that she did.
Jack broke the surface, and pulled Avice up, keeping her head above the water. He noticed her state of consciousness, and sighed in a mixture of frustration, worry, and general fondness. As gently as he could, he slung her over his shoulder and swam for the boat. He lifted her onto the deck, and pulled himself up after her. He took her pulse, and found that her heart was beating, and she was breathing. He sighed with relief. She would come around soon. He sat her in an upright position, and patted her on the back, trying to get her to cough up any water she many have inhaled. "Natalia," he called to the Captain. "What is it with your crew randomly jumping into the water?"
She rose out of the water and began to climb the boat until she felt a sharp pain in her arm but she continued to climb back into the boat. Once she climbed over the railing She turned back to her father, tears in his face and a warm inviting smile. But something was wrong,he was acting too soft. Hell, the word please was the one word she hardly ever heard from him. She stared him in the face. She knew he was dead. "Your not him,he's dead...and you act nothing like him." She turned back to Avice. "I don't see any wounds, she'll be fine." She began to feel dizzy as she struggled to stay awake, not noticing that her suddenly bloody arm was dripping blood all over Avice.
After a moment Avice coughed up some water. She put a hand on her head in defeat before speaking wearily. "Sorry, that was gross."
Jack shrugged. "A little bit gross, yeah. But we have Captain Sidesplitter over there, and we are covered in siren's slime, blood, and god knows what else. Don't worry too much." He turned and nodded to Sierra. "Thank you for your help back there. We're almost out of this."
