"Nah. Not today." Avice shook her head. "I still think you have a heart. Right there." She poked his chest.
"Hmph. I don't believe you. Obviously you have some heart. Otherwise you love pie, or have me as a best friend!"
He frowned and opened his mouth to respond, thought better of it, and then closed his mouth. "I guess you're right," he said eventually.
"Uh, I beg to differ. You were definitely not right about the first thing," Jack said, raising an eyebrow.
Jack pressed on, grinning. "Uh huh. You know, talking about feelings? When really, the only feeling to discuss was a deep and insatiable hunger? Ring any bells?"
"Aww Avice," he said, grinning at her cheekily. "You softie!" He stacked their empty dishes, and pushed them aside and then paused. "I'm not playing the harp though."
"Oh really?" he responded, his head cocked and an impish smile playing on his lips. "Am I still your best friend, though?"
