His shoulders were tight from nerves and worry, but they relaxed slightly under her fingertips. He leaned into her grip, looked up at her, and smiled. "I know," he said. "I trust you."
She was quiet. Her heart was pacing quickly, and she tried not to make it obvious that she was excited, and yet there was still a dumb smile on her face.
He cocked his head and grinned, his eyes never leaving hers. "Why are you grinning like that?" he asked softly. (HOOOO BOY)
She covered her mouth with her hands, before speaking up. "Because of you," she spoke quietly, as if embarrassed.
"No!" She seemed flustered. "You just make me happy, that's all," she said as an excuse, pursing her lips.
Her flustered face seemed to make him smile more, and he caught her hand hesitantly, as if he wasn't sure he had the right. "Well," he said thoughtfully, looking upwards. "That's good. You make me happy, so it's good that we have a symbiotic relationship." He looked back down at her, a cheeky grin on his face.
She was still for a moment, before laughing. Her nose crinkled and she looked down as she, but when she stopped, she spoke. "Honestly, how did I get lucky enough to meet you?"
He laughed, shaking his head slightly, and shifting his weight. "I've been asking myself a similar question. It does seem like a crazy set of circumstances placed us together."
She leaned in as well, copying his actions subconsciously. Her mouth opened to speak, but no words came out.
He glanced down at their hands and their intertwined fingers. He was still for a moment, his thumb making small circles on the back of her hand. Finally, as if summoning his courage, he looked up at her, still with that shy smile. He leaned in slightly, his eyes on hers, and kissed her. (Me right now: )
Her eyes widened for a moment in shock, before she kissed him back. She was shaking a bit, whether it be from excitement or nervousness.
He pulled away when he noticed and frowned at her. "You're shaking," he said softly. "Are you alright?"
He leaned his forehead against hers and grinned. "Oh, good," he said. "Because that would be embarrassing."
She seemed to relax when he did this, and sighed. "You're really good at making me feel embarrassed, you know that?"
