"We just have to believe it was necessary," Ellia said, frowning as she stared up ahead. "Otherwise we'll just go mad. Besides..." She trailed off and looked behind her where Jack and Natalia were walking, Natalia's arms crossed tightly across her chest and Jack speaking to her in a low voice. "I think Natalia might go crazy if she thinks that whole ordeal was meaningless."
"God, who wouldn't?" She blew hair out of her face in thought. "I'm surprised how well she's holding up for seeing something like that. I definitely wouldn't be doing that good."
"She's had years to deal with it, I suppose," she said before turning to speak even quieter. "Who do you think that blond guy was, though?"
Ellia frowned as they entered a large dark chamber. "Yeah," she said. "I wonder if he's still alive. I can't imagine she would let anyone like that go on living."
"Hunted him down? Maybe he's still alive. It seemed like she didn't know he was the one who burned the house," she suggested, gazing at the room. "I don't like this place that much, and my head is starting to hurt again." Her voice was murmur, and she took a deep breathe.
Ellia frowned at her. "You should sit down, maybe," she said, pulling out a canteen of water. "Here, drink this."
