She looked just as surprised, her eyes wide. Maverick shook his head. "No! Ask Theresa. We both saw it."
Monty hesitated, looking at Theresa. "Well?" She nodded in confirmation, frowning before continuing to move. "I need to speak to the principal."
Maverick nodded. "Speaking of which.. What are you two doing here?" Theo rubbed the back of her neck. "Well.."
Monty frowned, looking over at Maverick suspiciously. "You were in class when we said we were going to go to the Principal, right?"
"Theresa was still in the class before we left. Unless... you weren't in class?" Theresa waved it off. "No, he's just stupid. I gotta go."
Monty looked over his shoulder as Theresa moved past them to go into the principal’s office. “Shouldn’t we all evacuate the building?”
Monty nodded and they followed her into the dark principal’s office. However, before they could enter, Theresa emerged, white as a sheet. “You’re not going to believe this. They’re all asleep in there. Unconscious. I can’t get them to wake up.”
She ran a hand through her hair with a nervous sigh. She reached and touched Monty's arm. "Let's go back to the classroom and tell them what's going on."
“I don’t think anyone should be moving down the halls,” Theresa said worriedly. “Let’s go in the office. We can send an announcement through the loudspeaker.”
They entered the office. The lights were flickering and Theresa was right; everyone was passed out, slouched over the desk. * * * Sylas sighed, standing up. "Should we be doing something beyond sitting silently in this room?"
Theo frowned, looking around. Maverick ran a hand through his hair. "You go ahead and announce it, Theresa." *** Cassian looked up at him, raising an eyebrow primly. "I don't think anyone is stopping you. Except the teacher, maybe."
