He gave her a grin, tapping the tip of her nose. "I'm not gonna let that happen, Feisty." * * * She nodded, looking like she might have been relaxing a bit. "Yeah."
She may have seemed a little surprised at his touch, her eyebrows raising. "Feisty?" *** He casually put his hands in his pockets. "And you take notes on people."
He laughed, leaning back against the cupboard. "Yeah, Theo. Feisty." * * * She frowned, flushing slightly. "Not just people," she replied, sounding almost defensive. "I take notes on everything."
She rolled her eyes playfully. "Yeah, okay." *** "Excuse me," he said, a slight tease in his voice. "You take notes on everything."
"I'll get a better nickname picked out, I promise." * * * She glowered almost playfully at him. "I do. I took notes on you."
“We won’t die, you know? We were wandering those halls on our own. If someone wanted to kill us, they would.” *** She paused, considering him. “Severe,” she said after a moment. “Irritated.”
Monty stood up and went over to the printer, taking a piece of paper before sitting next to Theo again. “Do you know how to do origami?” *** “I don’t know if that’s true,” she said hastily. “You might’ve just been having a bad day.”
"No," she said thoughtfully. "Except those fortune teller things. I can do that. And also paper airplanes." *** He shook his head slightly. "No, you're correct."
He considered this before beginning to fold. “Basic.” *** She laughed, almost in surprise. “You’re severe?”
She laughed slightly. "Rude. Now I expect you to impress me." *** He looked down at her, his expression critical. "Yes."
“I’ll do more than impress you, Sparky. I’ll amaze you,” he said arrogantly. *** Her smile faded slightly, but she raised an eyebrow. “Why?”
She grinned, her shoulders relaxing. "Perfect." *** He tilted his head back slightly. "That was a joke."
His fingers moved easily to fold up a flower before presenting it to her. *** She brightened. It seemed she was relaxing. “I see.”
"That is pretty good," she admitted, observing the flower. "Color me impressed." *** He gave a slight nod, looking around the room.
“But are you amazed?” he asked playfully, nudging her with his shoulder. *** She pulled her knees to her chest, her frown returning.
She rolled her eyes playfully. "Sure. I am amazed." *** Lilith looked up at Mags. "Do you think Monty and Theo are alright? Since they were sent to go to the principal's? I mean.. Theresa is the one who made the announcement."
“Great. Mission accomplished,” he replied. *** Mags’ lips were in a firm line. “I don’t know, dear. We can only wait for the authorities to arrive.”
She nodded. "Good work." *** Lilith didn't seem to be a fan of this answer, sinking back with a frown.
