“Thank you,” he said, sounding satisfied. *** Sylas looked over at Lilith thoughtfully. “Why are you so worried?” he asked, his voice like velvet.
"You are very welcome." *** She looked up at him incredulously. "Because someone was murdered and my friend decided to go out into campus, where there could still be a killer."
He chuckled, leaning up against her playfully. "What else should we make?" * * * He waved it off. "By worrying, you are suggesting that Theo can't take care of herself."
"Easy," he replied, beginning to fold. * * * He huffed, leaning his head back. "What's your deal, anyway?"
She grinned, waiting patiently. *** She seemed hesitant, as if already defensive. "What do you mean?"
With a final flourish, he presented a crane to her. There came the sound of sirens in the distance. * ** "You know. You're an angel, I guess?"
She smiled. "Wonderful. And, sounds like we can get out of here soon." *** She looked a little confused, but not unkind. "Yes..?"
He looked up, standing up and offering a hand. "Excellent." Theresa frowned, looking at them. "We should probably send an announcement..." * * * He looked at her thoughtfully. He truly was beautiful, with golden-brown eyes that shone like the sun. "Do you think I could be good?" he asked, sounding almost plaintive.
Theresa looked up as the police entered the building. * * * His expression was impossible to read and he fell silent for a moment. The intercom crackled with a dull whine as an official-sounding voice spoke. "Attention all students. We have completed an internal of your school. We have an all-clear. You're safe now. Officers will be coming to your doors to escort you from the building." The class came back to life, with sighs and tears of relief as students hugged each other. Sylas said nothing before standing up and ruffling her hair, heading to the door as it opened for the officers.
Theo looked a little relieved, running a hand through her hair. Maverick got up, his brows furrowed. *** She looked confused, watching him go with curious eyes. Cassian stood, collecting his things.
"Are your parents coming to pick you up?" Monty asked, standing up. * * * Theresa looked over at him, crossing her arms. "We'll probably have to talk to the police." * * * He picked up his bag and said nothing more, heading for the door. * * * Fina looked up at him curiously, but looked down, obviously embarrassed.
She looked over at him, pursing her lips. "No.. I can drive myself." *** He frowned. "That sounds scary." *** Lilith took her things, slinging her bag over her shoulder as she left to go home. *** Cassian noticed her. "Do you need something?"
"I figured, but I was just wondering if they were worried or anything. We were in lockdown." * * * She raised an eyebrow, seeming genuinely interested. "Why are you scared of the police?" * * * Sylas didn't even glance at her as he went to the hall, but a crowd quickly formed around him. One girl slipped her arm in the crook of his. "I was so worried, Sylas," she said sweetly, resting her head on his shoulder. * * * She flushed in deeper embarrassment, shaking her head. "No. Sorry."
She waved it off. "It's fine. It's just my mom, anyways." *** "I am afraid of all authority," he said, matter-of-factly. *** She glanced at them, but said nothing of it as she continued out, going to walk home today. *** "Hm. Okay, then."
He raised an eyebrow before tapping the tip of her nose. "Whatever you say, Sparky." * * * She frowned, pursing her lips. "That's not how police should make you feel," she said, sounding confused. "Their main purpose is to serve. Why should that scare you?" * * * She looked furious at herself, standing up hastily and heading for the door.
She rolled her eyes with a playful. "Are your parents picking you up?" *** He shrugged slightly. "I dunno. I've never even done anything illegal." *** He watched her go with a frown before leaving as well.
"Mine? No, no. They work until late and I gotta go pick up my sisters." * * * "Except being a hand in a murder," she replied harshly, raising one eyebrow.
