He laughed slightly, taking the phone from her, his thumb brushing over the screen thoughtfully. “You’re quite bold, Sparky.”
He flushed slightly, a rare moment where he looked thrown off his game. “You’re welcome, Sparky,” he said, regaining his composure. He slipped his hands in his pockets. “I’ll see you later.”
"And now, onto our next story. Authorities have not gotten closer to uncovering the cause for Ruth Davis' death at Glensdale High School," the elven reporter said with a serious expression. "But the students and teachers alike are growing impatient. We cut now to an interview with Magdelena Hinderlie, a professor at the school." "It's ridiculous," Mags said, looking furious. "We can't resume school in case an event like this occurs again, but we're now on week two of no classes. We need answers immediately." Monty sighed, shutting off the TV before he looked down at his phone, texting the most frequent contact he'd had over the past couple weeks. "What are you doing right now?" * * * Theresa rested on the soccer field outside the school, dressed in clothes more casual than her usual armor. A white blouse and a pair of dark blue jeans that wrinkled as she looked up at the clouds, one knee making a triangle with the ground, her curly hair intertwining with the grass. She sighed after a moment, sitting up and taking out her headphones. * * * Fina was sitting in the library, books spread out all around her as she swished her wand down, golden sparks like the sunset falling from the tip. "Edrysil... mentyboe..." she read under her breath, her brows furrowed in frustration. * * * Sylas was at the store. The Girl was shopping for a pair of jeans, but the rest of the group was not far away from him. "What about this, Syl?" the Girl asked, turning to look at him with a shirt draped over her. "It's nice, right?" He considered it before giving her a fake smile. "It suits you."
Theo was at the poolside at her house, sitting on the edge with her feet in the water. She looked down at her phone and put the glasses up. "Just at home. What about you?" *** She would see someone familiar in the distance. It was Maverick and he was looking around, as if searching for something. *** Cassian entered the library. He often came here to study at the request of his parents to practice and get better. He also motivated himself to improve, taking it rather seriously. *** Lilith was at the park. She was alone and upset, rubbing a bruise that had formed on the side of her face.
"Same here," he replied, sitting up from the couch. "My siblings are being taken care of. Want to go get something to eat?" * * * She groaned slightly, standing up and heading towards him, her phone in her pocket on her hip and her arms crossed as she considered him. "What are you doing here?" * * * Fina was towards the back, visible from the entrance, but barely. Her eyes lit up as the sparks condensed into a ball of light and she dropped her wand, taking the magic in her hands and pouring herself into it as it grew. * * * Sylas ruffled the Girl's hair, kissing the top of her head. "I'm probably going to take off, alright?" he asked her gently. "I kind of want to get some air." She looked up at him with a frown. "Are you okay?" "Yeah, yeah. I just am not feeling this very much right now." "Oh... okay. If you say so."
She leaned back, tilting her head. "Sure. Where at?" *** He looked up at her. "Oh, hey. I'm searching. For evidence!" *** Cassian was looking through the books, pulling out a few before looking around. He noticed Fina and approached. "Fina." *** She sighed, pulling her knees to her chest.
He grinned, obviously delighted with her reply. "Hm. Picnic? We could go to the store and get some bread and cheese and go somewhere." * * * She did not seem particularly impressed by this, raising an eyebrow as she tilted her head. "For evidence? You think that you're going to find something that the police didn't?" * * * Her expression, changing from delight to surprise as she looked up at him. The ball of light in her hands warped as she lost focus and started writhing in her hands, shifting until disappearing with a loud pop that made Fina flinch. Heads turned towards them and Fina flushed, looking mortified. "...hello, Cassian." * * * He headed out. After a while, he found himself at the playground. He sighed, sitting in the swing, looking down at the ground and pumping his legs.
She got up and put on her shoes, going out front. "Sounds fun. I'll pick you up. What's your address?" *** He shrugged. "Maybe." *** His expression was mostly serious, but his eyes had an amused look. It would be hard to notice. "..What are you doing?" *** She didn't notice him at first, shifting and letting her legs hang off the edge. After a moment, she looked over at the sound of the rusty hinges. She simply watched for a moment.
"1832 Briar Avenue," he replied. She would be vaguely familiar with Briar Avenue. It wasn't really a residential area, more woodland and forest. * * * She considered this for a moment before nodding, tugging on the necklace around her neck. "Alright, then. Lead the way." * * * She set down her wand, tucking her hair behind her ear embarrassedly. "Practicing. School's been out and I was getting... antsy. What about you?" * * * He sighed, not noticing her. As she watched, he whistled sweetly. A rabbit emerged from the woods and he got off the swing, kneeling down and dipping his fingers in his pocket, pulling out a carrot. "Hello, Edna," he said gently. His real smile crossed his face and Lilith would realize that she had never seen anything like it. It was beautiful; sweet and kind and loving unlike any other smile. He offered the rabbit the carrot and she began to chew it thoughtfully as he sat down, scratching behind her ears.
"Got it." She got into her car and started off, her expression thoughtful. She would arrive after about ten minutes, squinting at the address and knocking on the door. *** He looked a little surprised, evidently not expecting her to help. "Wait, really?" *** He nodded slowly, sitting down and setting his books to the side. "Also practicing. Because I do that a lot, I suppose." *** Her eyes widened slightly as she leaned to watch in interest. She had never seen him like this. It surprised her.
