He smirked, looking over at him. "It means whatever you want it to mean. She's pretty, huh?" A possibly genuine smirk crossed Sylas' lips before he left the cafeteria, the doors closing behind him.
His eyes widened ever so slightly and he shrugged slowly. "Theresa? I dunno. I guess." Lilith frowned, standing up and leaving as well.
"I've been done," he replied playfully, standing up. "C'mon. The bell's gonna ring in a couple minutes."
The whistle blew and Professor Lucas, a short man with a shiny, bald head stood between them. "Alright, teams. I want fair play here. The magic we teach you is all up for grabs. Weapons have been enchanted to only incapacitate people, not do damage. You all know the drill." Monty eyed Sylas on the other team, raising one eyebrow as he pulled his hair back. Sylas didn't even look at him, focusing instead on the flag with a devilish glint in his eye. Fina noticed this little interaction, squeezing her wand nervously. Theresa was standing behind her team, her hands softly glowing with white light as she readied herself.
Theo eye'd the opposing team, as if sizing each one up. She pulled her hair back into a ponytail. Cassian would be hardest to fight. Her best bet would be Maverick. Lilith frowned. Sylas scared her the most, but she was hoping it would he over with quickly. Her wings appeared and she summoned her weapon, both had a warm light. Cassian looked overall annoyed to be there, his arms folded as he waited for the game to start. He knew a more competitive nature would take over eventually, but felt the beginning was tedious. Maverick stretched dramatically, tilting his head. He pursed his lips. "Do we have a plan?"
Sylas opened his mouth to speak but Theresa took over, her voice cool. "Aim for a classic Vorhees maneuver," she said softly as she took to the air. "Stick together. Don't try to be a hero." Sylas looked annoyed, raising an eyebrow. "Remember your place," he said quietly. Theresa looked down at him and Maverick might be able to detect a hint of a smile in her voice. "Of course, Sylas," she replied coyly, unsheathing her sword. "Please, take control and change my instructions." There was a silence before Sylas huffed, turning back to the opposing team. Monty looked over at Maverick on the opposing team with a playful grin. "You're going down," he called. "We're going to kick your asses." "Language, Mr. Burgess," Professor Lucas scolded, stepping back. Fina laughed lightly, her grin on her wand relaxing.
Maverick raised his eyebrows. "Wow, that was sharp. What's a Voorhees maneuver anyways?" He waited until Professor Lucas wasn't looking to playfully flip off Monty. Theo looked back at her team. "I want defense and I want offense. Lilith and Monty, I'll put you two on offense since you'll have advantage with your wings. Fina and I can take defense. Does that work for everyone?"
She looked over at him, seemingly unimpressed. "Run fast," she said, looking forward again. Monty gasped in protest at the rude gesture, but gave Theo his attention when she spoke. Fina nodded in agreement. "Sounds good. Should we do a group cheer?"
She raised an eyebrow thoughtfully. "How about we think of a team name and then just say that like a cheer."
He nodded seriously, flapping his wings. "Great idea. I'm greatly in favor of the team name 'the Catfishes'? What do the rest of you think?" "On your mark..." Professor Lucas began. Monty looked panicked.
"Yes!" he celebrated under his breath. "Theo, you've made me the happiest man alive. I won't forget this." "Get set... fight!" Monty took to the sky and Fina began muttering charms, magic streaming from her wand to protect the wand. On the other side, Theresa raised her gladiator. "Run like Hell!" she called in a battle cry.
She laughed slightly, taking a defensive stance as fireballs lit in her palms, waiting to take aim. Lilith followed Monty, her hand tight around her weapon, which was a golden spear. Maverick turned into an eagle taking off just above his team as he soared with them, his head turning as he eye'd the opponents. Cas followed the group, not yet activating his powers.
