Sylas huffed. He hadn’t treated her any differently since he let her stay in his house, but Lilith would feel like she could read him easier now. “This better not be a waste of time. I have a lot of work to do,” he grumbled, looking down at Theresa. Monty jogged up, waving a hand. “Sorry I’m late!” Fina looked up curiously, a small smile playing on her lips. “Everything.”
Maverick looked up with a grin. "Oh, good." Theo tilted her head before poking at him playfully. "Where were you?" Cassian nodded. "I.. See. We haven't even started yet."
He raised his hands in surrender. "I was..." He hesitated before sighing. "I was bargaining with a janitor. I got him to steal a blue ribbon from the art classroom for my sister." She laughed, shaking her head. "I was joking. I'm just writing stuff down from today. I normally take about 15 minutes or so after school to catch up with my notes, but that time has been taken up now, so I'm just trying to squeeze as much in as I can."
She smiled slightly, her head tilted. "That's a good enough reason as any." He nodded slowly. "That makes more sense." Maverick looked around, pursing his lips. "So, I made this club cause I quit the newspaper team and now I have nothing to do. Decided to try and solve the murder instead, so that's what this club is for."
They all turned to Maverick curiously. Sylas was the first one to speak, scoffing slightly. "Wait. You don't actually believe that you can solve this, right? You're just a kid. We're all just kids."
"It definitely does," he replied, crossing his arms. "The entire police force didn't figure it out and you think we will?"
"We do," he said brightly. "How else are we supposed to get places without a vehicle?" He paused, raising his eyebrows playfully. "And since when did you start helping an angel?"
Theresa fell silent, but Monty smiled at Maverick encouragingly. "Well, I think it's a fantastic idea. What should we do first? Look at the body?"
"I actually am not sure if we can do that. I think we should look for the cause of the blackout. Or find out how they did it."
"That's a good idea," Monty agreed. "But how?" There was a silence before Fina piped up hesitantly. "I could look at the security cameras."
She looked over at him, raising an eyebrow. "Yes. I have trust with people. Unless, of course, you'd like to utilize your resources to get access? It should be no problem."
