Sylus spoke loudly, his voice like a blanket that spread across the battlefield. "Look around you. They're trying to take the flag for themselves. Don't trust them!"
Theo seemed annoyed at Sylus, and took an aimed shot of fire at him. Normally, Cas would let this slide, but this time he sent a burst of water to counter it. Maverick moved forward, going straight for the flag.
He made eye contact with Theo and gave a wicked smile. "Theo... trust me," he said, his voice sounding so soft, so clear. The battlefield was loud and confusing, but his voice was so soft. "Relax." Theresa looked down at Cas and quickly placed a hand on his head. He would feel a sudden boost of power fill his veins. "Support Maverick," she said, her voice echoing in his mind. Fina frowned, extending her hand as magic flowed to Maverick, rooting him to the ground. "Synastyl pendulo idryssl," she murmured, pulling him closer to the Earth.
She couldn't ignore the temptation his voice brought, but the scowl persisted on her face as she muttered. "God, you're so annoying.." Cassian looked mildly annoyed that she was touching him, but gave a nod, sending a strong current of air for Maverick to use to help keep him from gravitating down further. This was Cas's specialty; water and air. Lilith squinted before pointing. "Is that their flag?"
Monty gave a nod to Lilith, confirming her question, and glared at Sylus, replying back to his attacks in a light-hearted tone. Monty's words also carried power; the heaviness of magic was evident. "Sylus! There's a spider on your back!" Fina locked eyes with Cassian and pause before giving him a surprisingly sweet smile, flicking her finger at him. His magic hit a wall that divided the lines of the two teams; he was cut off from Maverick. Theresa noticed this and frowned. She ran across enemy lines and drew her gladiator, leaping at Fina and stabbing the blade into her belly. Fina gasped, falling to the ground.
Lilith nodded, diving toward their flag. Theo used this distraction to quickly turn and shoot a fireball at Maverick, causing him to crash and turn human, now on the ground and covering in dirt. Cassian went to cross the boundary, spraying water at Theo and soaking her, rendering her power disable for the time being. He moved past, going to Mavericks and helping him up.
Sylas noticed Lilith's attempt, reaching up and putting a hand on her wrist. His voice was heavy and gentle and kind. Loving, almost "Lilith," he chided sweetly. "Why would you want to do a silly thing like that? Land. Stay a while. " Theresa turned, and noticed Lilith. She paused, visions swarming her head, and a small smile crossed her lips. "Get the flag!" she commanded roughly, sprinting at Monty. "Now!" She jumped into the air, slamming him down and using the hilt of her sword to knock him out.
Her brows furrowed as she pulled away roughly, quickly moving to hit him with her spear. Maverick went to take the flag..
His words grew stronger, more insistent, and he gave her his breathtaking smile. "Lilith," he said gently, dodging the spear and taking her hand. "Where is the sense in what you're doing? Aren't you supposed to be an angel?"
He raised an eyebrow, almost playful. "Angels," he said, shaking his head almost in shame, mentally urging Maverick to hurry. "Why are you able to threaten me? Doesn't that go against your holy code or something?"
"There is no holy code," she said, glaring at him. "Just Angel's who are self-righteous." She pulled her spear away as Maverick got the flag. "Good game."
He gave her a genuine grin, obviously pleased with their victory. "Good game," he said smoothly, returning to the rest of his team.
She frowned, returning to her own team as well, noting the fact that Theo was completely soaked. "Cassian?" "Cassian."
Fina sat up, dazed and confused. She stood up, her hand on the wound where she had been hit. "I'm... sorry, Theo," she said quietly, looking embarrassed. "I didn't see Theresa coming."
"Don't be sorry," she said, reassuringly. "Stuff like this is kind of Theresa's thing, so obviously she'll be pretty good at him. Lilith returned, looking back. "That was kind of fun... Well, it was pretty stressful, but y'know."
"It was," Monty agreed with a groan, rubbing his head. "The Catfishes will persevere." Theresa, on the other side of the field, sheathed her sword, taking off her helmet, her curly hair ruffled. "Well done, everyone," she said quietly.
"Right," she said slowly, "The Catfishes.." Maverick grinned, resting his hands on his hips. "I like capture the flag." Cassian folded his arms, his lips pursed slightly. "Yes. Good work. We worked well."
Theresa nodded slowly and Sylas crossed his arms. "An easy win." * * * Monty folded his wings behind his back. "The bell's going to ring in a few minutes. You guys want to go get some food?"
Maverick laughed slightly, recalling the crash to the ground after Theo struck him. "Only slightly painful.. Since this is done and the bell is going to ring soon, I'm going to head out. *** Theo looked at the group thoughtfully before nodding. "Yeah."
