She nodded, and turned to leave. Theresa looked over at Maverick. “You okay?” Monty leaned back, looking over at Theo. “You gonna talk to Lilith?”
Maverick frowned. "I thought we were close, but now it's all gone." "I should," Theo said with a small frown. "I'm not sure what's up or why she's been seeming so upset lately."
She watched him, and for some reason, his sadness affected her. "Hey. We're already better than the police, okay?" she said gently. "We'll find something else." * * * "You should call her. She really likes you; she'd like to hear from you."
He nodded slowly, looking uncertain. "If you say so." *** "She told me she made a new friend. I was hoping that would make her happy but I think that's what's causing it."
She gave him a small smile, tapping her own temple. "I do. Never doubt a girl who can see the future, remember?" * * * Sylas frowned and stood up from his place against the tree, walking away. Monty tilted his head. "Sounds like they're not a good friend, then."
"It'll be okay," she reassured him. "I'm going to head home, but don't worry, okay?" * * * "You always are. Go call her."
Theresa pulled off her helmet, her curls clinging to her sweaty forehead as she dismounted from the pegasus. "Nice work out there, Theresa," the professor said approvingly and Theresa relished the praise, giving her a rare smile. "Thank you, Professor Dylan." * * * Monty was sitting on the stairs outside the school, lounging back tiredly, watching the clouds above him. * * * Fina was in the library at the school, her head resting on her hand. Her eyes fluttered momentarily and her head dropped before she shook herself awake, rousing in surprise. * * * Sylas looked down at Hazel with a small frown. "Are you sure?" he asked, his brow furrowed as she waved him off. "Yeah, totally. I'll be staying here pretty late anyway. Don't wait up." She kissed the corner of his mouth before hurrying away, her dark hair flowing behind her.
Maverick was at the sidewalk in front of the school, tying up his shoelaces with a small frown. *** He would feel someone move beside him. Theo sat down, her expression curious. "What are you doing?" *** A smooth voice sounded behind her, the smile evident in the tone. "Not getting enough sleep, are we?" *** Lilith was sitting at the bleachers by the field, leaning back with a sigh.
Theresa headed out of the school, tying her hair back. She noticed Maverick and came over to him, frowning. "Hey." * * * He brightened, looking up at her. "Looking at the clouds. It's good to see you." * * * She started, looking over at him with a start. "Oh, hey," she said, clearly flustered. "Yes, uh... it's a little loud at my house at the moment." * * * Sylas walked into the field, his hands in his pockets as he muttered under his breath.
Maverick looked up, his head tilted slightly before he stood. "Hey." *** She smiled at him before looking at the clouds as well. "Good to see you too." *** He looked curious. "Like the music?" *** Lilith looked up, noticing that he was walking. She got up and approached him, her expression uncertain. "Hey, Sylas."
