Maverick was waiting patiently, his hands folded. Lilith and Cassian were already there. Theo was just arriving, her expression warm.
Theresa landed in the field, her wings disappearing as she touched the ground. Sylas was just showing up, checking his watch. Fina had been there earlier than any of them, trying to get caught up as always. Monty was leaning against a tree, yawning.
Maverick looked back at Theresa, his expression a little hopeful. Lilith looked up as Sylas approached, her head tilted. Cassian was standing near Fina, his arms crossed. Theo sat down next to Monty, leaning back.
She looked up at him blankly, her lips set in an unreadable line. "What?" * * * His face brightened slightly as he saw her and he stood next to her, crossing his arms. * * * She looked up at him thoughtfully. "Are you ready for this?" * * * He draped an arm around her playfully, ruffling her hair.
He folded his hands. "Today is the day." *** She gave him a small smile, her expression warm. *** He looked down at her. "I suppose so." *** She looked over at him with raised eyebrows. "Excuse you."
"The day we confront the students?" she asked, running her hand through her hair. * * * "You okay?" he asked gently. * * * She frowned, pursing her lips. "We haven't really gotten anywhere..." * * * "Should I not?" he asked, pulling his hand back. "I thought it was sweet."
He nodded. "Exactly." *** "I have not gone back home yet." *** He shrugged. "I know. I don't know what to expect." *** She rolled her eyes. "I was joking."
"Well... yeah. Let's get it done." * * * He seemed concerned by this. "Seriously?" * * * She gave him a small smile before it faded. "I'm sorry about the other day." * * * "Nah, I see where your heart lies."
He nodded. "I asked them to meet me here after school." *** She frowned slightly. "I don't want to go back there, Sy." *** He looked a little confused "You don't have to apologize, Fina." *** She put an arm around him playfully.
She looked surprised, her brows furrowing. "You did?" * * * He frowned before sighing. "I don't blame you. Do you want to stay with me?" * * * "No, I do," she began, shaking her head. "I fell asleep on your shoulder and then my brother was cold and rude. I'm sorry." * * * "No, Sparky. Don't hurt me like this."
"How else would I find them?" *** "I've been staying with Theo," she explained, "but I'm afraid I've been overstaying.." *** He looked curious. "Was your brother rude? I didn't notice." *** She rested her head on his shoulder teasingly. "You don't like?"
"I don't know. Ask?" * * * "You can stay with me," he decided. "We have spare rooms. No one would even notice." * * * "He was," she said with a small nod. "A big ol' jerk." * * * "Don't do this to me."
"That's too much work," he decided. *** She frowned nervously. "Are you sure it's okay?" *** "Huh.. Oh well." *** She stuck her tongue out at him. "Mwah."
"That's way easier!" * * * "I'm sure. My parents won't even know you're there." * * * "Anyway. I'm sorry, even though it seems like you didn't notice." * * * "I'm breaking up with you," he muttered.
(Discord?) "Then we would have to look for them!" *** "Okay.. So I'll come with you after school?" *** "That's okay. I don't mind that or that you fell asleep." *** "Nice try, but we aren't dating."
She crossed her arms, but a hint of a smile played on the corner of her lips. "Okay. Fine. Your idea was good." * * * "If that works. We should get your stuff from Theo's house." * * * She flushed, shaking her head. "I'm embarrassed. I'm sorry." * * * "I'm aware," he said playfully. "We've been over this, Sparky. You're not my type."
He grinned. "I'm starting to think you just don't like my ideas." *** "Yeah, I can get it." *** He sighed. "You shouldn't be. It's fine." *** She pulled away. "Right."
"Oh, I don't. As a general rule, I don't like anything you produce." * * * "I'll drive you there after school," he said. "We'll just have to avoid my parents." * * * She pursed her lips and looked back down at the field guide. * * * His face fell slightly and he studied her with a frown before leaning back against the tree.
"That is so hurtful." *** She gave him a small smile. "I can be sneaky!" *** He frowned slightly, looking up. *** She didn't notice, not meeting his gaze. She paused before looking back at him. "Do you want to hang out after school?"
