She sniffled, coming over to Fina and squeezing her hand. "I haven't seen her without her stupid little book since she was at least six," she said, laughing tearfully. "I guess she grew out of writing in it."
The group sat on the field later that day. Theresa looked ill, her brows furrowed and her shoulders tense with nerves. Every once in a while, her eyes would spark, lighting up before dying down again. Monty was quiet, pursing his lips nervously. Sylas was sitting on the ground, perhaps the least concerned of the group.
Maverick was leaning against the tree, looking around cautiously. Theo was beside Monty, looking quite uncertain and a bit frightened. Lilith was standing behind Sylas, her arms crossed as she watched the ground. Cassian totally returned to school after the hospital visit, being the rule following teen he is. He approached the group, already looking annoyed. "Well?"
"We have to figure this out," Monty said, sitting up. "We're all in danger until it's resolved. Where was Fina found? Why did they attack her?"
Theresa laughed tiredly, sitting down. "I just wish she could tell us," she said, running her fingers through her hair. "I wish we knew what she was thinking."
"Just... why Fina? What did she do?" Monty asked, shaking his head. "She was the least involved out of any of us, besides Sylas."
Cassian shook his head slightly, a small, tight laugh escaping him. "Well, yeah. Fina actually helped."
