Cassian opened his mouth to speak but Lilith tugged on her hair in annoyance before standing up in a huff and looking at them accusingly. "Can't you guys stop arguing? It's not going to get us anywhere and people are just going to get upset. It's not helpful at all."
Theresa rolled her eyes, shaking her head. "Whatever. I'm going. I don't expect any of you to come with, but I also don't think you should be a part of this anymore. You're clearly not willing to do the work and you guys are just needlessly endangering yourselves in the process. Distance yourself." Monty hesitated before speaking. "I'll come with you, Reese."
Lilith looked down momentarily. "I will too." Theo and Cassian looked at each other. Theo frowned and touched Monty's shoulder. "Be careful.."
He gave her a playful wink. "Me? Careful's my middle name." "Let's go," Theresa said flatly, still glaring at Cassian. "I'd like to get this done before Fina dies so at least we can know that we did something."
She rolled her eyes with a small grin. "I mean it. And text me when you're done.." Cassian said nothing, watching her coldly.
"Will do, Sparky," he said, ruffling her hair. Sylas watched Lilith, his brow furrowed. "You know you don't have to be guilted into this," he said, quiet enough for only her to hear.
Lilith knelt down, her gaze quite warm towards him. "I know that. I'm going on my own terms." Cassian seemed annoyed, but sighed. "I'm going."
She gave him a small smile. Cassian shook his head. "No, you wanted to make the comments so deal with the consequences. I'm going with you."
"More like you're feeling guilty so you don't want to deal with the consequences," she grumbled. "Let's go."
Lilith looked around nervously. Should we go through the window?" Cassian was frowning. "I've never been inside so I don't know the layout."
"Probably," Theresa said. "I seem to recall Fina's mentioned saying something about sleeping next to a window has proven health benefits, so I wouldn't be surprised if she moved her bed over there."
Cassian nodded slightly. "That makes sense." Maverick started toward the house. "I could go ahead and look around since I can move quieter."
Theresa frowned. "It doesn't look like anyone's home," she mused. "They'd probably still be at the hospital. People don't give up on their loved ones until at least a week has passed."
She glowered before heading towards the front door, knocking tentatively. There was no response and Theresa took a deep breath before opening the door slowly. There was no lock and the inside was gloomy and silent.
