Theresa moved through the hallway of the school, holding the front page of the school newspaper in her hand. She heard the suppressed giggles and frowned, approaching Maverick. "What the hell is your problem?" she growled, holding the headline up to him. "What did I do to you?"
He looked up at her with wide, curious eyes and raised his hands, waving it off. "No problems here! Not with you, at least."
She glowered, balling up the school newspaper and throwing it at his face. "Well, thanks to you and your little joy ride," she said sharply, "I'm being tested by the school to make sure that I actually do have visions. And not only that, but there's some *squee!* that's coming, and no one is taking me seriously all because of you. You're an embarrassment."
He paused, tilting his head as he picked up the newspaper. "I just quoted what Sylas said. I don't doubt your abilities, personally.." He pursed his lips. "What's going to happen? Maybe I can help out?"
"No, you've done enough," she replied harshly. "Jesus." She turned on her heel and found herself directly in front of Sylas. The fury in her eyes was staggering, but Sylas crossed his eyes, raising one eyebrow as he looked down at her. "Scatter." She muttered under her breath, pushing past him and disappearing into the crowd.
Maverick watched, his brows furrowing slightly. He sighed, trying to figure out what he could do before his gaze turned to Sylas.
Sylas looked down at him, a small, almost approving smile on his mouth. "Good for you, Maverick," he said smoothly. "Everyone's an enemy unless proven otherwise. Best to just destroy them early on. Keep it up."
Sylas didn't look put out by his frostiness. Instead, his smirk widened and he continued down the hall, his hands in his pockets.
Theo and Lilith were in the girls bathroom. Theo was doing her makeup before pulling away with a grin. "All done! And let me say, you look fantastic with that eyeshadow." Lilith turned to the mirror, her eyes widening slightly. "I hardly look myself.. But I love it, Theo. Thank you. All of your clothes are so cute, I'm glad you let me borrow some." She gave her a thumbs up and a warm grin. "Of course, Lil. We're friends! The only price is that you sit with me at lunch, alright?" Lilith gave a nod and they set out into the hallway. She was wearing a dark dress that fit her well, and a headband fashioned like golden leaves. Theo had done her makeup well, and looked rather proud.
Eyes were turning as Lilith went down the hallway. There were murmurs and a few calls. "Lookin' good, Gold!" "Who's the hottie?" One set of eyes was Sylas, who instead of looking appreciative, looked confused and unhappy.
Lilith had a grin. She wasn't used to this much attention but she didn't dislike it for the time being. She noticed Sylas, and stared at him for a moment before looking ahead again.
She gave her a wide smile. Theo looked over at her. "Hey, Lil.. Do you know anything about Monty?" "Hm.. He's a bit of a prankster. Why?" "I dunno."
They were in homeroom when it happened. Mags was pointing to a diagram on the chalkboard, channeling a flame in her hand as she spoke, when a sudden crash of thunder sounded and the lights flickered out.
The students were startled, looking up in surprise. Theo lit a flame in her hand, looking around at the faces.
Mags was frowning, looking confused. "This is unprecedented. We have back-up generators that should prevent this from happening." "I can go check it out, Mags," Monty volunteered, raising one hand.
