They had found a muddy dirt road, eventually. It was muddy and unused, the end hidden by fog. They came upon a rusted iron gate, which led into a large stone manor that held an old and mysterious aura. It looked abandoned and unused.
Theresa squinted up at it with a frown. “Let’s go in, then,” she said after a moment, resting her hand on the gate. “Right?”
Maverick squinted. "This is like the start of a horror movie." Lilith looked cold, her brows furrowed as she crossed her arms. "It's the only building we've seen. Let's go in."
Sylas looked over at her before shrugging off his coat, placing it on her shoulders. Theresa tried the gate, attempting to push it open. Monty looked over at Theo, his brow furrowed. “Are you okay?” he asked gently, squeezing her hand again. Fina frowned, hanging back nervously, biting her bottom lip as her fingers tapped against her hip.
She looked up at him, resting her head on his arm gently. Maverick moved to help, the chains creaking under pressure before it slowly started to open, the noise grinding. "I'm doing better," she said softly. "Thank you." Cassian stood back by Fina. "Are you alright?"
He looked down at her, rubbing her back slowly. They got it open and Theresa wiped her hands on her jeans. “Let’s go.” He frowned before kissing the top of her head. “Everything will be okay.” She looked over at her, her brows furrowed. “Yeah. Just scared. Nervous. What about you?”
The house seemed to be in good shape, only worn by time as some uncleaned debris and leaves gathered through the years. The door was unlocked and the house was cold and empty. Everything was nearly in place, but some furniture was knocked over and it was incredibly dusty. Cassian sighed, his brows furrowed. "I've been better."
Theresa frowned, squinting in the darkness. “Hello?” she called out, her voice quiet in the darkness. Fina came over to him, her brows furrowed. She looked at the rest of the group in front of them, their backs to them, and she slowly slipped her hand in his, looking uncertain if she had the right.
Theresa frowned before turning to the group. “Let’s set up here, then. Maybe we can get a fire going.” Fina gave him a small smile, letting go as Theresa turned towards the group to avoid being seen.
Sylas brought Lilith closer to the fire, trying to warm her up. Theresa frowned at the flames before standing up. “I’m going to go look around.”
Lilith relaxed a little in front of the fire, but continued to keep near Sylas, evidently hesitant to leave his side. Maverick looked down at her. "I want to look too."
He sat down, frowning worriedly. Theresa looked up at Maverick before shrugging. “If you want. But stay quiet.”
He looked down at her. “Hm? Oh, yeah. Just thinking.” *** Fina stared at the fire for a minute before turning and heading back through the house. *** Monty sat in front of the fire and opened his arms to Theo. *** Theresa raised an eyebrow. “That’s absolutely not true.”
She tilted her head. "What about?" *** Cassian watched her curiously. "Where are you going?" *** She went to him, burying her face in his shoulder. *** "Never been further from a lie in my life."
