She held it out for him, her shoulder brushing his. * * * She looked over at him in surprise, her brows furrowed. She seemed subdued after the attack. "I can't heal myself," she said with a shrug. "It's the flaw of the valkyries. We can heal others who were injured in battle, but not ourselves."
He took it, flipping through the pages curiously, squinting. "Hm.." *** He opened the door for her. "Maybe Lilith can help?"
She looked up at him worriedly. "So... what does it mean? Maverick and Theresa went out to the woods." * * * She looked down. "It's not a big deal. You don't need to worry."
He shook his head, looking a little worried. "Let's tell the others." *** He sighed, keeping by her. "I can't help that."
She nodded, looking around the attic before heading for the door. * * * She looked over at him with a frown, looking unsure. "What do you mean?"
He followed her out, his brows furrowed. *** "I'm worried," he admitted. "I don't like that you got hurt."
“I’m fine, Mav,” she said gently, turning to look at him. “What is this? It’s not like you to worry about me.”
He tilted his head slightly, looking resigned. "I worry about you a lot, Theresa. Do you think I point out when you look tired just to be rude?" he crossed his arms uncomfortably. "It's because I'm worried about your health."
She shrugged uncomfortably, closing the door behind them as they reentered the house. "Because... I mean... who would?"
She waved off his concern. “I don’t mean that in a pathetic way. I genuinely don’t know who would. I don’t have parents; I don’t really make friends. I have myself, and that’s enough.”
She gave him a small smile, patting his shoulder. “You don’t need to be concerned. I do well enough on my own.”
Maverick looked up with a start. "Fina, Cassian. I'm afraid we'll have to be careful here. There's creatures outside that are really.. not good."
