Theresa squinted, before nodding slowly. "Good to hear. We're going to need to take watches and we're also going to need to run some experiments. I think it's generally understood that we dream during REM sleep. In order to test that theory, we're going to need to wake people up before they reach that moment. Hopefully, they can avoid these nightmares. Unfortunately, cutting off our sleep before we achieve REM is going to lower the quality of rest. I propose that instead of extending our sleep over 12 hours, we move to a 24 sleeping period. This will at least give us more quantity of rest, even if our quality is disturbed."
"We can," she agreed with a small nod. "That's the second part of this. While people are on watch, they will also be working towards figuring out any and all information we can gather on where we are and how to get back. But we won't last more than 24 hours without sleeping. Seriously. I mean, you should know, right? Think about when you pull an all-nighter for an assignment. You're basically incompetent afterwards."
"I'll start," she said flatly, waving them off. "Sleep. I'll wake you guys up about an hour after you fall asleep."
Maverick shifted, lying on his side and looking up at her. "I'll go next." Theo was already half asleep, her face buried in Monty's chest. Cassian sat down, opening his arms to Fina. Lilith looked up at Sylas before sitting back.
She nodded, looking down at him. "Okay. No worries." * * * Monty leaned back, kissing the top of her head and closing his eyes. * * * Fina rested her head on her shoulder, closing her eyes and wrapping her arms around his waist. * * * He opened his arms to her, pulling her towards him.
He nodded, closing his eyes as he tried to sleep. *** Cassian put his arm around her, resting his head on hers. *** Lilith relaxed, closing her eyes.
Theresa watched as they all drifted off, making notes of when they fell asleep and glancing at the time. She stood up, sighing as she went to go investigate.
Theresa returned to the room a while later, shaking Maverick’s shoulder. “Hey. Wake up. You gotta move around.”
She looked puzzled, but shook her head slowly. “Not really. Just more journals,” she said with a frown. “I didn’t really read through all of them, but I don’t recognize the names of the places.”
She nodded before standing up. “We gotta wake everyone up so that they can walk around before going back to sleep. Otherwise, they’ll dream.”
He nodded, standing up and looking around. He took a breath before yelling. "Wakeupbeforeyouhaveyournightmaresagain!"
Theresa glared at him. Monty barely twitched, still sleeping peacefully, his arm draped over Theo’s shoulders. Sylas glowered, opening one eye and pulling Lilith closer protectively. Fina flinched, sitting up instantly in fear.
He grinned at her playfully. Theo, glared at him before looking up at Monty and kissing his cheek. "You have to wake up." Lilith yawned, looking up in confusion. Cassian woke up just as fast as Fina, though maybe not as frightened. He pulled her closer, a frown on his face.
