So, my school will be starting a Pokemon Club next year, and I was lucky enough to be picked as one of the officers. So here's the deal... I want to make a good, BALANCED, yes, very important here...Balanced team. As an officer, I have permission to use one solitary legendary. Unfortunately, I can't use any non-legit pokemon, even events. I must show the President an event card for such pokemon. As for the team, it builds as follows (so far):

Shuckle: Ability; Gluttony, Moves; Toxic, Rest, Stealth Rock, Knock Off, Item; OTD (Rocky Helmet?)

Rhyperior: Ability; Solid Rock, Moves; Stealth Rock, Roar, Rock Wrecker, Dragon Tail OR Sandstorm, Item; OTD (Smooth Rock?)

Roserade: Ability; Natural Cure OR Poison Point, Moves; Giga Drain, Ingrain, Poison Spikes, Spikes, Item; Black Sludge

Blissey: Ability; Serene Grace, Moves; Flamethrower, Thunderbolt, Softboiled, Heal Bell, Item; Leftovers

Rampardos: Ability; Mold Breaker OR Sheer Force, Moves; Head Smash OR Stone Edge, OTD, OTD, OTD, Item; OTD

Tyranitar: Ability; Sand Stream, Moves; Crunch (OTD), Stone Edge, Earthquake, Dragon Tail, Item; Choice Band

First off, OTD is short for open to discussion, meaning anything labeled with this I need help with. Pretty basic build here; Sandstorm Trap Combo. I have 4 tanks, but all can attack if necessary, with the exception of shuckle with knock off's abysmal 20 power and shuckle's equally abysmal attack power. Keep in mind I am open to any changes in my team, especially considering I am still training/obtaining the team. I may take one out for Meloetta or Jirachi, but I am open. Jirachi would benefit from sandstorm's boost, but it would just mainly be another tank... The main problem here, however, is the huge hole I've left wide open: No counter for fighting type pokemon, which is a weakness of 2/3 of my team(Water shares the same ratio, however I am prepared to face that)! Were I to face Poliwrath, and were it to use belly drum, it could single-handedly mach punch my entire team dead. Were Meloetta or Jirachi to take part, i would be somewhat prepared but... Also, Foretress may join in, considering the benefit from sandstorm and it has the rare benefit of being able to access all three traps, as well as Rapid Spin, a trap clearer. Also, just caught this, hitmontop would be quite the fright for this team. So, pokemon fans... Any advice for a fellow Brony/Pokemon veteran?

Interesting team. Are you willing to change some team members? And are you EV training them?

Blissey's a decent pokemon, so keep him/her. Skarmory pairs quite well with Blissey, since it can wall the physical attacks that Blissey can't take, while Blissey can wall the special attacks that Skarmory can't take. It also benefits by not taking damage from sandstorm and it can use flying moves on those fighting types that will threaten your team.

I'd go with Roost, Spikes, Whirlwind and Brave Bird while holding leftovers. If you put down some Spikes and then spam whirlwind, your opponent can't attempt to set up and attack Skarmory. It also slowly whittles away at the opponents health (even more so if you've used stealth rocks and toxic spikes). Then every so often, you can use roost to heal up. If the opponent sends out a special attacker, switch into Blissey.

I'd also recommend teaching Blissey Toxic, since that will help lower the opponent's health as you wall their attacks.

Wow, brave bird... Really? You sure? I was thinking something more defensive, but if you are sure... Also, what would I be losing for Skarmory and Toxic? And teaching toxic to that many pokemon would be risky, Trace. I dunno... Finally, I will check out the shuckle set later. Busy right now, on Vacation but will have time later. Thanks a lot!

Ok, so I just saw the shuckle set... Wow, so accupressure, rest, rollout, and power... split?! Wow, luck indeed would be needed there... but i may try it. luckily I have a Drapian I can breed, so I may as well try it. Other then that... I caught a skarmory today and it knew spikes right away... Which was AWESOME!!!! I'll use a heart scale for whirlwind. Where do you find the tm for roost, i cant find it. What about level it learns it? I can be patient for brave bird, though, thats just in due time, due time...

It turns out Brave Bird and whirlwind are egg moves so if you don't want to go through the trouble of breeding, Aerial Ace and Steel Wing/Iron Defense are probably your next best choices. Usually you'll just use brave bird to finish off the opponent so you won't be taking much recoil damage. As for Roost, it's not a TM in gen 5, but it can be taught by one of the move tutors.

As for what to replace, I'd say Rampardos. It's a bit too frail and slow, whereas Rhyperior can take a few hits and still has respectable attack. And for Blissey, I'd replace Flamethrower for Toxic, since you need a bit more coverage against water types, so you'd be better off keeping thunderbolt.

And that Shuckle set relies on luck and it'll only work 1% of the time. You're better off sticking with your current moveset unless you want to experiment a bit.

Well, I'll catch a Sygilyph to get whirlwind, but I think Ill be better off using Aerial Ace rather then Brave bird, because it always hits. I dont mind breeding, i still need to get the egg medals anyway. And flamethrower for toxic seems risky becase few steel types are vulnerable to electric, and most are resistant. Roserade can cover for water types, but i have an open mind and will try it anyway. Also, what about an item for skarmory?

Since TMs are reusable now, you can always switch between Thunderbolt and Flamethrower to see which works better. And if you have extra leftovers, give Skarmory leftovers as well. Otherwise you could give it a Shed Shell (so it can switch out from Magnet Pull) or a Rocky Helmet (so when it switches into physical attacks, it damages the opponent.

Sadly, I dont have extra leftovers. If i did, theyd go to shuckle.Sounds like rocky helm is the ideal choice, so Ill go with that. Also, bulbapedia says that sigilyphs gender ratio is 50/50... So why is male sigilyph so dang rare?!?! At this rate, i will find it shiny before i find it male!

I know how you feel, I had to hatch, like, 20 eggs before I finally got a male Ralts. If you still haven't found a male, if you put a female Pokemon with Cute Charm in your first party slot, you increase the chance of finding a male (and vice versa).

I have a strange feeling that if i tried that, it would take forever to find a female minccino!!! Most likely, though!
